The Suitcase Junket / Bio

Matt Lorenz - songwriter, sculptor, innovator and compulsive creator has been playing music since he was 6. He formed the junk-folk group Rusty Belle with his sister in 2005 and began the Suitcase Junket experiment in 2010.

In this project he brings together disparate sounds and genres to form something peculiar and new, yet familiar and comfortable. He taught himself how to throat-sing while driving in the car and spent several years developing a way to integrate it tastefully into his music. Add that to blues influenced slide guitar, a suitcase-gas-can foot-drum set-up, a clear, honest singing voice and some mean whistling skills and there you have it; it's unlike anything you've ever heard. His aesthetic speaks to the idea that waste does not exist and all can be repurposed; trash, instruments, songs, and emotions.
