Cristian Basso, Midi Bass, Bass, Vocals
Trevor Jones, Guitar and Vocals
Chad Johnson, Drums and Vocals
Bursting with energy, emotion, and unpredictable experimentation, the Colorado based trio tears open the artistic envelope, bringing both nuance and eclectic strength to their roots and electro-funk oriented repertoire. Their sound is both atmospheric and ambitious, without losing the pedal-to-the-metal power that keeps their audience dancing into the night and wanting more. The band has supported Dumpstaphunk, JJ Grey and Mofro, Juno What?!, Boom Box, Pimps of Joytime, Tea Leaf Green, The Heavy Pets, Particle and DJ Logic.
The band was assembled by song writer/producer Cristian Basso who has performed with artists like Leo Nocentelli (The Meters), Papa Mali, G Love, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Particle, Bill Kreutzmann(Grateful Dead), Eric Lindell, Dumpstaphunk and Bo Diddley. Cristian recently wrote and produced Royal Peeps, “Alessia’s Walk” CD (Contra Basso Music, 2010) that continues to receive air play and musical licensing opportunities throughout the US and Europe. That recording made it through the first two voting stages for the 2011 Grammy nomination artist list.
Cristian turned to the MIDI bass for inspiration while writing for The Sessh. The MIDI bass is used as both a MIDI instrument, generating numerous low end sounds and FX, as well as to trigger production changes during live performances. The band sings 3 part harmonies. The infectious funk and lead playing of guitarist Trevor Jones, as well as his soulful vocals resonate deep into the funk nation. The organic, dynamic beats of Chad Johnson on drums, keep the band locked and loaded with musical diversity.
This dynamic trio fuses new soundscapes through the use of both vintage instruments and electronica to form what they call "Roots-Electro Funk-Rock". The Sessh’s musical rue uses funk-rock and soul flavored ingredients from New Orleans as well as early 70’s funk, hip-hop and driving rock. The band continues to add to their already rich funk repertoire of original material while allowing the music to grow from their live and studio sessions together. The Sessh has completed their first EP “Fressh Vol.1” dropped November 18th 2011. Their new CD "Anodyne" was released on July 2, 2013.
