I've been singing my whole life. My earliest musical memory is of listening to a Beatles album when I was 3 or 4 years old, beating rhythm on pots and pans & singing along with "Norwegian Wood". I few years later I put the stereo on top of the piano and started playing and singing along with my fav records. It was just a natural thing to do for me. Big family gatherings were always full of music and my parents went on to build a great life for us with their musical talents. My world has been full of music from the moment I was born. Any other way of life feels like living on an alien planet to me.
My father is Jerry Reed and my mother is Priscilla Mitchell. They were always in the studio when I was little. Mom sang and daddy played guitar on so many hit records that came out of Nashville. Sessions would go on for 24 hours sometimes in those days. I loved hanging out in the studio and spent many a night sleeping on the couch. When I got older I started working with dad and loved every minute of it! We did TV shows, he gave me bit parts in his acting endeavors, we recorded a couple of duets, and I toured with him. He was an amazing man and had the greatest attitude in life. I learned so much from him and my mother. They gave me a great gift.
I was offered a record deal early on but passed on it. I just didn't like what I saw in all that business. Instead, I had a wonderful child and stayed busy with other things for awhile. I've come into my own as a soulful kind of blues singer. Now here I am, getting back to what I love doing the most and I'm doing it on my own terms. I'm doing it for love ... and happiness!
