MOTHER OF DYLAN began as the solo project of Don Martone in late 2009. After playing in numerous local acts in the Providence area over the years, usually as a fill in drummer, Martone grew restless with participating in the same old verse chorus, verse chorus rock arrangements. During this period of restlessness and longing to offer he and the Providence music scene something new, Martone produced dozens of home recordings through out this time. He then took part in the open mic circuit, honing his skills as a songwriter and performer.
Also around this time, through an almost serendipitous chain of events he reconnected with friend and seasoned drummer Rick Corbett (Vital Remains/Atomic Season). Together with help of lead guitarist Cade Beaulieu, MOTHER OF DYLAN performed their 1st live show on June 23, 2010 at AS220 in downtown Providence.
Refusing to go the way of so many failed rock band endeavors, Martone through an unyielding persistence and dedication to his craft, currently has a solid four piece lineup, recruiting lead guitarist Adam Newell (Green Frequency) and bassist Tyler Wilkinson.
This year is proving to be MOD’s most productive to date, having multiple shows at the newly renovated Met Café in downtown Pawtucket under their belt and the upcoming THE NEW WILDERNESS EP release scheduled. MOTHER OF DYLAN will definitely be the band to watch in 2011.
