Matriarc / Bio

For Kecia S. Alexander, a.k.a. The” Matriarc", love & hate, joy & pain, ecstasy & sorrow share the same stage. One without the other seldom exists in her world - a fact that gives her perspective and that provides her with a sense of calm in a world of chaotic parallels. Her verse is the "scale of balance" that makes sense of it all.

Matriarc is genuine about her life's trials and circumstances. Past pitfalls and the hopeful triumphs of herself and others put delivered over equally defining music and beats underscores her passion, intensity and ingenuity. Her love of music and song has naturally given way to creative expression through poetry and is driven home by beats and movement. "It has been a constant flow of writing poetry whenever I am going through [my] life experiences and [the] experiences of others," says the poetess. Her philosophy – her spoken word is life. Life is movement. Life without music is not life, but death.

Poetry is second nature. Whether rhyme, lyric or soliloquy, it flows through her from a spiritual place. She is inspired by the depth of life experiences and does not shy away from the creative expression that resonates from her soul. Whatever, wherever she “feels”, she writes from that place.

The Matriarc is always working on new and innovative ways to take listeners to that place. “Soon come,” with the launch of her website on which she will feature and sell downloads of her works of “art that imitate life”. Future collaborations with the Foremost Poets', jOHNNYDANGEROUs – well known for his spoken work material on dance music, and eclectic production style, and other’s influenced by his genius will help to deliver Matriarc's stylings to the wired-world.

Stay tuned for a new year full of undeniable lyrical prose amidst equally charged musical accompaniment from courtesy of The Matriarc.
