A native of Millen, Georgia USA, Phillip Young has always had a special place in his heart for music. He began as a saxophonist in his church and his middle school band at age 11. As his love for music matured, his musical talents branched into various areas of church, where he would later gain a passion for the Hammond Organ. Phillip aspired to pursue his music career in the North, particularly while attending the world-renowned Berklee College of Music. In taking that step towards fulfilling his destiny at Berklee, Phillip found himself thriving in the Boston Music scene. He has toured extensively with Entrain, where he plays, not only saxophone, but also keyboards and percussion in concert. Phillip has had the priviledge of opening for Arturo Sandoval, Steele Pulse, Kate Taylor, The Neville Brothers, and Gladys Knight. Phillip also plays with the WeJazzUp Orchestra, Elevation Theory, and many other bands in the Boston area. Phillip is featured on Entrain’s 7th project entitled “Entrain 7” as well as several other projects. He has worked with The Greg Luttrell Band at the House of Blues and Jazz in Shanghai, China where they also did their second, third, and fourth residency due to popular demand. Phillip is also featured on The Greg Luttrell Band Live Recording “Made In China”, which was recorded live at the House Of Blues & Jazz. Performing not only in China, but in Dubai, Egypt, Canada, and Europe, performing internationally is nothing new for Phillip. Now, back in Boston, Phillip is very focused on "Phillip Young" the solo artist. Phillip is currently touring with Grammy winning Blues Hall Of Famer Joe Louis Walker, where he is playing keyboards and saxophones. Phillip’s growing musical experience has inspired the creation of an album that will drop in the coming months. From a child with a dream and a saxophone to a soulfully talented man with incredible skill, Phillip Young has transcended into, not only an indispensable part of the Boston music scene but more over, a highly gifted musician.
