Mark Shay was born in the O.C. of California, USA before his parents moved the family, at first, to N.Z. and later to Australia.
Raised with a wide variety of musical influences including Country, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Classical, Hard Rock, Pop, and Blues, it wasn’t long before he began learning how to play musical instruments.
At first the Piano, followed by the Guitar, Bass, Drums, Violin, Cello, Banjo, just to name a few.
From the age of 14, Mark Shay found himself playing a number of instruments for local bands / artists at pubs and clubs in Sydney and surrounding areas.
Being raised with a strong Country influence with the likes of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, his tastes now tend to lean towards the more modern side of Country as he lists his favorite Country artists to include the likes of Keith Urban, Shania Twain, Trace Adkins, Brad Paisley, Troy Kemp, Martina Mcbride and Toby Keith just to name a few.
Currently based out of the Hunter region in NSW he is aspiring to one day have his own name up there with those who have, and are still pioneering and reinventing the term “Country Rock”.
Mark Shay just wants to stay true to himself.
“If I can blend the simplicity and honesty of Country, with the passion and excitement of Rock… and do it well… Then what more could I ask for.”
And now with the release of his latest singles “Keith Urban Stole My Girl” & "Get Your FERAL ON", Mark Shay is set to take the Country Music scene by storm.
