This is a page dedicated to the original music writen by Hayes Hornish, Mike Protich and Ryan Williams AKA Red Sun Rising.
Ryan and I had been playing together for years; we auditioned Mike after finding him at a gas station and coined the name. Initially we were a close-knit group of friends who co-wrote all songs, respecting each other musically and personally.
We went through several drummers and the band flourished. We settled on Mark Jendriasak. Manager Kevin Grace joined the fold, the four of us signed with him and with his ideas and enormous financial contribution the band gained notoriety, despite growing internal conflict.
Mike attempted to assume complete creative control of the band, which was now controlled by Kevin's money pot. I fought to maintain RSR as a band, while Ryan was only concerned in keeping his own influence. An uneasy alliance was formed among Mike, Ryan and Kevin. Mark who was not a founding member and who was content in a subservient role sided with the majority and I ended up the odd man out. So began the final phase of RSR...
Local guys from the old Grooveyard studios offered to give a great deal to Kevin, Mike and Ryan in exchange for some creative control in the studio. For me this was a nightmare, as the creative force of the three of us had taken RSR where it was and we needed nobody else. They announced that RSR would be them and whoever they decided to include in the studio. I fought this tooth and nail and refused to give up my slice.....So Kevin, Mike and Ryan agreed it was time to throw the old guy out and get a new younger guy who just says yes.
The "neutral management" announced that I was no longer involved with RSR and tried to silence me. The hijacked Mike and Ryan dictatorship is not Red Sun Rising; it is fraud.
