John Deery Band / Bio
The John Deery Band mixes a strong dose of southern rock, a little country and a stiff shot of the 70’s outlaw movement. They are well known for their original tunes, custom covers, and great interaction with the crowd. Their sound has been described as John Fogerty meets Dwight Yoakam.
The turning point in John’s career occurred upon a chance meeting with his favorite songwriter, Billy Joe Shaver. In 2004, John had the good fortune of sitting next to his idol on a flight to Nashville. By the end of that flight John and Billy Joe had begun to write a song about another passenger in their row. The song, Trail of Blood, became the final result of this flight. This song was released on John's first album Insignificant Other in the summer of 2007.
Writing a song with Shaver was an honor, and it provided John with the confidence he needed to step up his presence in the Texas music scene. Though John has a very eclectic collection of musical heroes whose shoes, or boots are rather hard to fill, he isn't worried. John Deery is driven to blaze his own trails in music. He believes that honest lyrics and good on-stage energy will connect with people. The Deery Motto is—“If there is enough energy on stage, it won’t take long for the fire to spread!” The John Deery Band has been performing around Texas since 2003. Over the years, they have built a following of fans and friends.
