Raised in South Central Los Angeles, with an immense love for music,
BIZNESS, born Robert McDonald, is paving his own lane in the “rap game”.
Growing up in the West Adams district of Los Angles, where gang banging
dominated the youth’s activities, BIZNESS, took pride in his education, and
found music as an outlet which in turn, he found his voice.
He also found a safe haven in the movement, BLOCKSTARS, founded in
2011 by Dawayne “Status” Cotton, a movement which was formed for friends
fighting to survive while the death rate rose in their community. BLOCKSTARS
stands for: “Black Leaders Overcoming Criticism with the Knowledge to
Succeed Through All Restrictions”. The movement has grown to hundreds of
members, which has overflowed into five other states as well as Canada.
Growing up with respect for artist such as Jadakiss, Lauren Hill, and
Tupac, BIZNESS can be described as a lyrical mixture of many genres. His
music embraces life’s struggles with a positive mindset and turning his
tragedies into triumphs. Now a father, Bizness focus is to make music not only from his stories on
the streets, but the struggles and joys of becoming a better man and being the
best father to his little girl.
In 2001, he released his first solo mixtape “Good Measure” which was
recorded in Canada. He followed up with features on the “Blockstar
Everything” mixtape hosted by DJ Goonie.
While he is creating a buzz for himself, he will forever be grateful and
loyal to the BLOCKSTARS for their support and guidance as he embarks on his
music career. His third mixtape “The Ground Work” is due out SUMMER 2012.
