Ferris is an established independent singer/songwriter/musician hailing from Lincoln, Nebraska, affectionately known to locals as “The Good Life.” Born Jenna Christine Ferris on August 27, 1985, in San Francisco, California into a family that constantly encouraged her to pursue her dreams. From a very young age Ferris exuded the traits of a fearless performer and networker. She grew up talking to anyone and everyone, which is the reason she used to get in trouble as a child. Today, it is one of the qualities that sets her apart and builds her name and reputation. There are a countless number of choirs, select choirs and musicals she has performed in, in addition to being awarded various vocal and musical awards throughout the entirety of her life. “I always felt like a big-city girl in a small town. I have always been drawn to and inspired by artists of all genres... you're just as likely to find me listening to Country-Pop as you are Hip-Hop or a solid R&B ballad. As long as the vocal delivery is good, I'm going to listen. I love a song that tells a great story or shares a positive message. I hope my music does both for people. " Ferris' mom always jokes that “she literally can not walk across a room without singing. That is the best way you can tell what kind of mood she is in. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and the closest thing to her heart; is her music.”
Ferris has tried many things in her lifetime, everything from traveling around the country opening restaurants to being a post-op nursing assistant and an Intensive Care Unit patient tech at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. For a long time, Ferris admits that she was nearly paralyzed by the ridicule she received for being overweight. “I can’t count the number of people who always told me it was too bad that I couldn’t be a star because I had such a pretty voice and face. It was genuinely crippling to me. It took a long time for me to convince myself that my gift was bigger than my pant size… and I had music that people needed to hear.” She has been on multiple different tours. She participated in two different weeks of the ‘No Bully Tour’ both as a host/performer and as the Tour Manager. More recently she toured with Grammy-Nominated American southern country Hip-Hop group Nappy Roots. Ferris has done backgrounds for upcoming pop-sensation, Ashmin Skyy and written with former Motown artists known as the band Moet. Ferris has worked with Grammy Nominated Producer, Willie ‘BumBum’ Baker, Grammy nominated engineer Adam Long and Grammy Award Winner Pete Woodruff. She often can be found writing with former band member of "Moet" from Motown Records and American Idol star J.Curtis. Her favorite writing and production partner is her younger brother and guitar connoisseur, Grant Ferris. She recently began recording her debut album at Dark Horse Recording Studio, in Franklin, Tennessee, just a short twenty minute drive from historic Music Row in downtown Nashville. Her debut album ‘New Woman’ is set to release spring of 2013. Ferris will graduate with her Bachelor’s of Business with a focus in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University in December, 2012, and will move to Philadelphia immediately following graduation to complete her album. Her famous tagline, one that she encourages all to live by, is: "Never Sleeping On My Dream..."
