Hi, My name is Kylie Morgan. I am eighteen and from Newcastle, Oklahoma. When I was twelve, I realized music was what I wanted to do with my life. It all started with a little pink guitar I got for Christmas from my Papaw. I learned my first three chords and just fell in love with the fact I could create songs of my own.
By the age of fourteen, I signed a record deal with Land Run Records.I was writing, recording, and playing shows almost all the time. Life as I knew it completely changed.
During those first few years, I came to realize how much hard work and effort it really took to get where I wanted to go. It was all about trying new things, scraping my knees, and getting back up to try again.
To keep up with my busy schedule I switched to online school my sophomore year. In December 2012, I graduated with a 4.0 GPA.
One of the biggest obsticals I faced as a young artist was venues. Sure, I played my fair share of smokey bars but the big question was "Where could I perform to reach my target audience?"
When I was fifteen I had a writing session in Nashville with Liz Hengber and Rob Crosby. We wrote the song, "Phoebe," in honor of fifteen-year-old Phoebe Prince who took her life due to bullying. The song was so much bigger than we expected. It created a platform for me to go to schools and talk to kids and teens everywhere about bullying. Not only was I making a difference, I was creating a fan base. My bullying prevention awareness message, "It Matters What We Do," went from being a local project to a global campaign that has allowed me to spread my message and my music.
In the last three years I have performed in schools across the United States. Starting from Elementary school all the way up to University level I have been able to spread my message to over 100,000 kids.
In July 2012, I starred in E! Entertainments's new reality show called Opening Act. I got the opportunity to open for country music stars Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan in Birmingham, Alabama on the "My Kinda Party" tour. This show aired globally and now I have friends and fans all over the world.
I went from hoping and dreaming to doing and achieving. I have the confidence and reassurance this is what I was born to do. -Kylie
