Ziyad Abdul Kadir Abdi (Born October 15, 1979), better known by his stage names Ziyad Matar and Z Rain, is a hip hop recording artist, singer-songwriter, and composer from UAE. Ziyad quickly rose to fame particularly among Arab nations of the Persian Gulf after releasing his debut album (Zihab 2000) in collaboration with Ehab Aba-Saeed (record producer); the album became a best-seller after its official release by SIDI-BMG back in Jan-2001. Ziyad also released another four albums before deciding to take a break from the Arabic music scene.
In May-2012, Matar released his patriotic national single (Proudly Emirati), incorporating new musical and rap poetry elements using a progressive Arabic themed Middle Eastern style, in gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan - the President of the United Arab Emirates, on behalf of all families who benefited directly from his highness favorable recommendations on the occasion of the UAE 40th National Day.
While known for being a controversial lyricist, Ziyad was the first recording artist to go publicly commercial when he was signed to release his debut “Rap” album (Zihab 2000) in Arabic, his visionary music style helped influence and popularize this genre of music amongst the youth of the Middle East.
Serious about his music career this time, Z Rain started revising his career by setting a new brand for himself with a competitive online presence to expand his online fan base. Z Rain is also working on a new album, which is more in line with today’s international music market standards aiming to establish his brand globally.
