Born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA, Tom Mackell began writing and recording music while attending St. Joseph’s Preparatory School, a Jesuit high school for young men located just north of Center City Philadelphia. Tom graduated in May of 2009 and spent the summer recording and mixing his debut EP, One Man Army, a catchy acoustic and vocal blend that laid the foundation for his unique sound. He started writing music because he is so often inspired and wants to ignite that inspiration in others. Tom’s music is about discovery, pride, love, and youth. It’s about what is happening in his life and the lives around him, making his songs refreshingly relatable. Tom spent his freshman year of college at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, where he began performing at open mic nights and winning fans one at a time. Unhappy with the direction he was heading in, Tom transferred to the College of Charleston located in Charleston, SC to continue his studies and grow as an artist. Tom spent the following Summer of 2011 recording his second EP, Carolina Sweet, a 5 track full production EP produced by Glenn Barratt at Morning Star Studios near Philadelphia. The EP was released in December of 2011 on Bandcamp and iTunes. After graduating from the College of Charleston in May 2013, Tom is currently performing around Charleston and beginning to demo songs for his next release.
