Funkee Noosa was started with 2 members, Ricky Behlmann and Derek Waggoner in mid 2004. Just like every band starting out, they played all of their favorite cover songs but soon got bored. They decided to expand on their creativeness and decided to write their own songs. Never knowing what to call the songs was always an issue, so something stupid was always given as a reference. One song in particular was given the name "Funky New Song". They'd always say let's play that funky new song and it soon got thrown around as gibberish. Funkee Noosa was one that kept sticking so they decided to roll with that as a band name.
David Dameron joined in the summer of 2006, and after going through a handful of singers and downfalls, the Noosa decided it was time to take a break for a while. In the summer of 2010, Joel Lomax responded to a vocalist ad at a local music store, came over for a jam, and everything clicked like it once had. Lomax soon got the Noosa back on their feet and are the band you hear today. So sit back, drink a beer, and enjoy the music!
