Antilogical started in September of 2010 after of the demise of The Bastards Alliance, which featured Rob Costley (Necrophilicons / Ten Second March) as vocalist. The original Antilogical lineup included Jason Eakins (Release the Crimson) on bass, Dustin Anderson (grrRoPoLis / Dust A.C.) on guitar and vocals, and Ryan Schubert (My Friend Jared) on drums.Anderson’s quirky writing style and unique vocal character set the tone of the music with rapid-fire lyrics, delivered over playfully awkward and sometimes equally rapid-fire punk beats, with influences ranging from early eighties hard core to the more diversely influenced punk scene of the nineties. During their first two years, Antilogical opened up for D.R.I., Antiseen and Joe Buck, in addition to playing with local favorites Boss Mustangs, Murder Party, Expunk, Chugger, and the Jub-Jubs. A self-produced EP and one full-length album also came out of this period. In 2012, Ryan Cunningham (The Waxines / Ginger Fig) replaced Eakins on bass, initiating a new direction for the band. Cunningham, a professional recording engineer, helmed the recording of their latest EP, Degradio. Artwork was supplied by Joe (?) of Lansing’s Jackpine Snag, and mastering was done by Austin Ruhstorfer of River City Studios. Settling into their new identity, the band is writing and playing constantly, refining its raw materials – Andesron’s quirk, Schubert’s aggressive and calculated drumming, and Cunningham’s active bass style – into an even more disciplined machine.
