Last of the Barstools are a dynamic London based indie/folk duo. They write character based songs, rich with harmonies and delicate instrumentation. Their much acclaimed lyrics are both poignant and cinematic with vocal lines shared and swapped throughout, allowing each story to be told in their own unique way. Their debut E.P ‘Stories from Somewhere’, recorded in February 2013 has already received much praise and attention from publishing companies, radio stations and PR agents in London and beyond.
On stage they are accompanied by a full band of incredibly talented musicians who enhance the richness and texture of their set. Like the EP recordings their live arrangements are diverse and imaginative, drawing influences from Cohen and Springsteen to Bright Eyes and The National and all that’s in between. Their unpredictable and creative live shows have received some wonderful reviews in recent months and they have amassed a passionate and growing fan base in a remarkably short period of time. With a UK Summer tour on the horizon and both a single and EP release just around the corner, 2013 is proving a very exciting year for the barstools.
Offstage, Dublin born Mark Kavanagh and his native Essex partner Laura Davies are constantly writing and recording new material within the comfort of their South London abode.
