I was born in 1964, and raised in a small town in Iowa. From day 1 have always dreamed big and craved attention. I migrated South in 1985 to Chattanooga, TN., where I resided for 5 years. My ambitions finally landed me in Atlanta, GA., and I have been a resident here since 1990.
Music is my passion, and always has been. From singing in choir at grade school, to the big stage spotlight in Atlanta, GA. This is what I live and breathe for. Singing in public began for me in 1999, when I discovered karaoke! I began writing and recording my own music in 2001. I wasn't satisfied with my vocals, and in 2004 went to Nashville to receive professional vocal training by Renee Grant Williams, and also attended her intensive training seminar. She has trained many top vocalists, such as Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Christina Aguilera, and many more. The rest was up to me. I spent numerous years developing my vocals. The challenge I faced, was finding me. Who was I? I didn't want to sound like anyone else. I had many influences, such as Martina McBride, Reba McIntyre, Christina Aguilera, Heart, & Patsy Cline.
I performed at The Wolf's Den in Nashville, and was critiqued that my performance was "too Karaoke", and to "watch my yee-haws"! (Guess I was a little too rowdy for their liking!!)
I began hitting the open mic scene in 2005. I teamed up with partner Tim Rose, who has played guitar for over 35 years, and sang harmonies to my lead. We titled our duo act as "The Moonbeam Experience". We signed a 1 year contract with Dave Craver, representing local radio station 92.9 Dave FM as hosts' for The Open Mic Nite Series held in the Atlanta Area. We also performed our duo act at numerous Atlanta Nightclubs for over 2 years.
In 2007, I was approached by an Atlanta promoter, who scheduled me to perform at a VIP Showcase for Music Producer "Diamond D". I performed Chrisitina Aguilera's version of "Reflection", and blew the house down!! To this date, I believe it was one of my best vocal performances ever. After the event was over, I was approached by Diamond D, and we conversed for over an hour. He advised me to speak with my promoter immediately about a possible contract. Unfortunately, she developed cancer, and I lost touch with her. But I still have Diamond D's phone number in my contact book!
In 2008 I auditioned for the AMTC Talent Search Event in January. In July of 2008, I traveled with my mom to perform in the talent showcase at The Gaylord Entertainment Center in Orlando, Fl. I didn't walk away with any pending contract offers, but I had a great time, and learned alot!!
In 2008, I teamed up with Star Search winner Andy Easton of "Tin Roof", and performed a knockout version of "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" at Smith's Olde Bar in downtown Atlanta. By the middle of the 1st verse, the room was standing room only, as people from the lower level of the club rushed up the steps to check us out. It was awesome, and I do believe we would have made "Meatloaf" proud!!
I've been in several local classic rock bands, and have performed at many popular clubs and charity events in Atlanta and the surrounding areas. However, after playing cover songs in clubs, for several years, I began to feel like I was "spinning my wheels", so to speak. I didn't feel like I was growing as an artist.
In 2010, there was a great transition going on in my life. I began to develop a spiritual relationship with God. My values changed, my lifestyle changed, my circle of friends changed, and I was growing!! My songwriting style is changing, and I am growing even more as an artist. I am so excited about the future and what it holds for me. As time changes me, one thing holds true in my heart...my passion for music!!!
