100 Watt Mind doesn’t give a f*ck, they just want to rock! And when they do it, these kids from the Low O region of Southern Oregon don't f*ck around. Shoe gazers may as well not even waste their time showing up, because the moment Skyler Squglio sends out those first notes from that upside down SG and Brynna Dean chimes in with those first screams, there is no looking away. Tied together like the Dude’s rug by a blistering rhythm section comprised of bassist Nathan Hurlocker and drummer Robert Morris, 100 Watt Mind bring old school rock and roll sensibilities that conjure up images for their older fans of Led Zeppelin being fronted by the love child of Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison, while younger ones will wonder when Josh Homme started letting his wife fill in on vocals for Queens of the Stone Age. Their debut album “Out of Night,” mixed and mastered by the legendary Oz Fritz of Primus and Tom Waits fame, was released less than a year ago and has already become a local staple having sold hundreds of copies, received regular airplay on the local “New Rock” station, and was named “Album of the Year” at the local “Low O Music Awards” where, of course, they were also crowned “2013 Low O Band of the Year.” Over the past year, 100 Watt Mind has filled and killed evening main stage slots on many festivals including the Jefferson State Hemp Expo, Apple Jam, and even Reggae in the Trees (where they were the only non reggae act invited and got one of the biggest responses of the weekend). They were also invited to play up at Seattle Hemp Fest and found themselves opening for the legendary Led Zeppelin front man Robert Plant, Saving Abel, Floater, and Hell’s Belles among others. Whether it’s white haired music fans of old, or young music junkies using fake IDs to get in and catch a glimpse, at the end of the show everybody also knows, when 100 Watt Mind decides to rock – they don’t f*ck around!
