Caleb McLeod is a man who bears the true grit of his soul when he sings about cigarettes, whiskey and life’s loves and losses. Raised in rural North Florida, Caleb’s interest in music started when at the age of 15, he and his older brother discovered an old guitar in their attic. With that old guitar and a book of chords, Caleb embarked on a musical journey that has taken him to become an eminently heart felt, bearing all singer-songwriter. You can sum up Caleb’s music in one word – “Honest”.
Caleb’s first professional musical endeavor began with the rock group “Capitol Speedway”. Winning a local Battle of the Bands contest to become the 2003 “Best Band” in Tallahassee, Florida, Capitol Speedway toured 18 states over the course of 3 months in the Summer of 2004 to promote their debut album, “Tonight The World Is Ours”. Shortly after the tour ended, the group parted ways, so Caleb proceeded to form the band “Big Whiskey” with some of his local musical friends. Big Whiskey released locally both a self titled CD and EP which were recorded at Synaxis Sound Studio. The band played the local Tallahassee bar scene until the latter part of 2007.
In early 2008, Caleb approached Michael Traylor, owner of Swamp Monk Music Works, Synaxis Sound Recordings and Studio, to produce a solo project. This partnership led to assembling an all-star group of musicians to record the CD “RECKLESS”. This Roots-Americana, Alternative Country CD has been released on the Synaxis Sound Recordings label as of March 2010.
So far in Caleb’s musical career he has had the privilege of opening for Shooter Jennings, Chris Knight, Lucero and Cory Branan. He also had a featured appearance as a singer-songwriter on the 2010 Country Throw-Down Tour in Tampa, Florida.
