Kick Ass Melodic Mosh Pit'n Metal! Core Zero is a Denver based metal/hard rock band that was originally formed in 2005 under a different name. Upon release of it's first full length professionally produced album Doxology, Core Zero adopted their current name. The music can be described as melodic vocals, soaring solos, heavy guitars, and a tight rhythm section. If Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack, and Drowning Pool had a four headed love child it would be Core Zero!
Core Zero was originally formed in 2005 as a cover band by two brothers and a life long friend. Shortly after the formation, Mike found Bryan on Musicmates.com where he had just finished a gig as a singer for hire for Denver based Christian band Arrival. Shortly after Bryan's arrival into the band the decision was made to drop the cover format and start the creation of a hard rock and metal all original band. Both Bryan and Mike had many years of experience in similar type bands in the past and thought that there was a strong possibility for success with the current members and talent. In the following years Core Zero (formerly known as Sineater) composed original music and played local shows in the Denver area and gathered a small but loyal following. In 2009 the decision was made to record the first full length album or project for the band and due to some market research and study the band dropped it's former moniker and officially adopted Core Zero as the name and brand for the band. Core Zero is a term used by law enforcement and medical professionals that is loosely defined as either a heart attack or similar type episode or, someone without vital signe. Either way Bryan and Mike felt the name clearly fit with the overall direction of the music being created by the band and the name stuck.
Core Zero released it's first full length album in 2010 titled “Doxology” with the help of Grammy winner Steve Avedis who engineered and produced the project. Steve who was originally from California has worked with several well known bands in the 80s and 90s one of them being Styx. During this time period Core Zero met and started collaboration with Rucker Entertainment who assisted Core Zero in getting the music out to people in various areas. the initial reaction to the music were very positive and CZ received several good reviews in many digital and print publications including Music Connection Magazine and Zero Tolerance magazine in Europe. Another achievement with the release of Doxology was the nomination of Core Zero for the Best New Metal Band Category of the Los Angeles Music Awards. Bryan attended LAMA award ceremony and represented the band in 2010 and 2011. Because of this he had the opportunity to meet many people in the music industry as well as actually participate in the award program.
Some line up changes were made in 2011, and as a result the band took some time off to regroup and find new members. The new line up of Core Zero was launched in 2012 and consisted of original members Bryan Butler on vocals and Mike McCoy on guitar and vocals. We then added the new additions of Doug Sable on lead guitar and vocals, Jeff Garbarino on bass and vocals , and Chris George on drums and vocals. The new direction of Core Zero is very exciting. We are combining a more commercial arrangement style with the same heavy melodic music base as demonstrated on Doxology. The band released it's first new single in 2 years in February of 2013 titled Labor of Rage. Initial reactions by fans were very exciting as they loved the new material and currently Core Zero is set to release a follow up single in March/April of 2013 titled Find Me. Core Zero is currently in production of the new album which is expected to be released in late summer of 2014 and producer/engineer Steve Avedis has solidified his relationship with the band and is now the 6th silent member and supporter for all of the technical production of the band's new material.
Core Zero is well represented on social media including Reverbnation , Signmeto (Roadrunner), Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets. Currently Doxology and new singles Neglect and Labor of Rage are available on CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon, and other outlets including the band's web page. Also, Core Zero is a winner of the Band of the month club (www.bandofthemonth.com), and is actively being played on a variety of internet hard rock and heavy metal radio stations as well as the winner in some recent internet radio competitions.
As a side note, Bryan started a cigar company called CZ Cigars which cross markets the band and the cigar company. The brand of the cigars shares the band name Core Zero and the individual two lines represent rock and roll genres. To date the CZ Cigars “Metal” and “Indie” have been placed and are being sold in local cigar stores in the Denver metro area and have recently expanded into New Jersey with more East Coast expansion expected.
