Based in West Virginia USA, Rutledge, the band, embraces the classic rock genre, and brings a fresh sound by synthesizing the styles of the past and integrating them with a more contemporary flair. Their diversity of styles offer a range of listening pleasure as energy levels vary from intense drives to moderately and melodically subdued songs with reflective lyrics.
Its players are similarly assorted. Drummer, John Zimmerman, began playing at age 11 at which he also formed his first band. Before traveling as drum technician with Miami Sound Machine and Pink Floyd, his group warmed up for The Drifters, The Young Rascals, The Four Tops, and Iron Butterfly. Bassist, Clarence White, Jr. loves jazz. He toured with Glenn Smith Unlimited playing Las Vegas show music there and in Canada; but not limited to that genre, as his life long musical career also includes working with Pat Travers in The Ronnie Hawkins Band. Newcomer violinist, Alasha Al-Qudwah, likewise transcends musically beyond her abiding love for classical music through her improvisation in Mid-Eastern and gypsy grooves; her studies at Mark O'Connor's fiddle camp in Nashville TN afforded her exploration into ethnomusicology, offering Rutledge new horizons.
