David Kohut began playing guitar at the age of 10. His musical influences include Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Grant Green, and Pat Martino to name a few. He began teaching guitar at the age of 17, and currently teaches guitar and bass lessons out of Rossi Music in Oak Lawn, Illinois, and Horizon Music in Evergreen Park Illinois, where he teaches 50-65 private students each week. In 2000, David Kohut received a Bachelors Degree in Jazz performance from Northern Illinois University, where he studied with renowned jazz/classical guitarist Fareed Haque. From 2002 to 2009 David Kohut played in the hard rock band Disonic, with which he regularly performed in many of the Midwest’s most notable venues. He also produced/engineered the group’s 2007 release “The Value of Truth”, which was released on the Darkstar label in the U.S., and is currently being reissued in Japan on Mijukumono Productions/Green Horn Records. In 2011, David received a Masters Degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. Currently, David is working on his first solo guitar album to be released within the next year.
