Diminishing Jim is an original rock band from Connecticut. The band has a truly unique sound, incorporating elements of rock, pop, groove rock, and hard rock. The band's songs are catchy with three part harmonies, yet raw and energetic. They have been compared to bands including the Foo Fighters, Vertical Horizon, Jimmy Eat World and The Cars.
The band is Ted Petrie (guitar/vocals), Jim Hoefelt (bass/vocals), Chris Giard (guitar/vocals), and Brendan Johnston (drums). All the band members have been playing in the local CT music scene for years in bands including Megahertz, 3-Eyed Fish, and Milo.
Diminishing Jim was formed in 2004 and has played numerous gigs at places such as the legendary Toad’s Place in New Haven and other bars, clubs and benefit shows throughout CT. The band's songs have been played on local terrestrial radio, internet radio and pod casts. Diminishing Jim was the featured band on Hartford CT's 106.9 WCCC Homegrown show the week of January 30, 2010.
The band released their 2nd CD, "The Monster I've Become" in July of 2012. At live shows, the band also plays different covers that stand out, such as Voices Carry by ‘Til Tuesday, Shock the Monkey by Peter Gabriel and Love Is A Battlefield by Pat Benatar.
