Jerry was born in the small town of Marshville, NC. Jerry's first love of music came about by his father, Jerry Sr., who was the leader of a funk band. After Jerry Sr. became saved, he began to sing quartet/southern gospel music. Jerry remembers, "I would go with my dad every Saturday as he would practice in a little shed with his group NEW BORN and they would sing for hours. I learned at a very early age to harmonize, and vocally blend with others, as well as training my ear for music." This led to Jerry's co-founding and directing his first choir at age 13, a one hundred voice choir,(Union County Youth Mass Choir). Jerry then spent the next 8 years learning different genre of music, and he fell in love with songwriting. "There's nothing better to be able to express to God how you feel," Jerry says. “ There's nothing like other people telling you your music expresses the way they feel, but they couldn't put it into words." At age 23, God elevated Jerry from singing on the choir to Praise and Worship leader, and eventually, Minister of Worship and Arts. He’s also done lead and background vocals for various artists, which has afforded him opportunities to sing and share the stage with other Christian artists such as: Pastor John P Kee, Vickie Yohe, Alvin Slaughter, Dr. Jeff Majors, Dr Juanita Bynum, Evangelist Judy Jacobs, Minister Vashawn Mitchell, Greg Murray, Chasing Daylight, Bishop Paul S Morton, Pastor William Murphy, Pastor Donnie McClurkin, Dr. Judith McCallister, Minister Stephen Hurd, Minister Byron Cage , Donald Lawrence, The Clark Sisters, Evangelist Dorinda Clark, Kierra Sheard, TyeTribbet, BeBe Winans, CecCe Winans, and a host of others. Jerry is also a well rounded songwriter. He has the ability to write music that expresses feelings towards love and life issues. Jerry often says, "Though I am a Christian, when I am spending time with my wife, I'm not singing Yolanda Adams or John P. Kee..lol. Pure love music still exists and its a passion of mine to help reemerge it." Along with singing, writing, and arranging original music, Jerry has performed in numerous venues across the country. To fulfill the destiny that God has for his life is Jerry’s focal point. He says, "Make the statement of your faith by your life.”
