"I Understand. I Realize"

I never understand, even when I try, I just can't wrap my mind around this!
Why would somebody lie? Why would they want to hide
from one they love?

And when I walk outside, people will stop and say, "Hey, you know she couldn't have really been in love--well, just look at the things she's done to you."
And then I say, "No, actually you're wrong. Yes, she was in love. That part was real."

And, suddenly, I realize...

I said, with these words, I realized
there could be no real lies
in her
real eyes

If you choose to live your life telling people lies, one day you may wake up to find you feel very lonely, as no one knows who you are
no one will ever know who you are
when you lie
to hide your
real eyes

I once saw a child cry
soon she learned one way to hide
oh, she lied
and does she realize

that when I saw her eyes
I could see some place inside
that shined--
these were her
real eyes

So suddenly I realize!
