Viewing lyrics for The Ice Age - a poem by Duane Poncy.

they say the ice age began
in the heart of a CEO
born on the beltway
conceived in a cryogenic lab
from the frozen sperm of jp morgan
and the egg of an unknown princess
carried to term in the womb
of a young White House servant
a daughter of many tribes
raped repeatedly at the age of twelve
by white conquistadors in three piece suits
the only ice she ever knew
was a drug to ease her pain

like ice-9, the frozen crystals spread
from heart to heart in the boardrooms
of transnational corporations
in the beds of prostitutes and politicians
and when a glacier issued forth from the oval office
it was covered night and day
by the weather channel
until all the people became numb
and the remaining warmth soon fled
for tropical destinations
refusing commerce with the land of ice

the gulf streams cold shoulder
chilled the north atlantic
and like the wealth of empires
the ice accumulated
burying chase manhattan
burying citicorp
burying the bank of america
until the snow blind nations fell

according to careful forensic analysis
the result you see today
the mass suicide of western civilization
was programmed into the genes
was woven into the tunics
of isabel's christian sailors
was written in the bible
"go forth and conquer...
"go forth and conquer the earth"
but you cannot conquer nature
you cannot conquer god
god is the ice
against which your coldness pales.
