About two years ago my mother was diagnosed with what was considered the beginnings of a stage 4 cancer. She went from being in perfect health to major surgery, chemo and radiation. She had me to help her, a house, and good health insurance and she still could have used a place like Mary's Place. And most people aren't as fortunate as her in this situation. Mary's Place resonates with me deeply. Not only are they providing a place where women can get away and do that in a place where there's no pressure and people understand what they're going through, but these women can take some time to heal and nurture their souls regardless of the outcome of their treatment. That is an amazing gift. They're not fighting cancer there, they're providing a soul sanctuary. I am in awe of the healing that is going on there on so many levels. And by the way, I'm happy to say that my mother is cancer free today.

I was so inspired after our first meeting there that I wrote this song on the way home and then recorded it with my band soon after. All profits from the sale of this song will go to Mary's Place By The Sea.
