PASSION, PRODUCTION, and PERSEVERANCE

Jah Mex aka Adam Arredondo: Lead & backup vocals, keyboards, recorded, produced & mix.

In Whittier California on September 21rst, 1978, Jah Mex was born to Dan & Marian Arredondo. Before Jah Mex time, Dan & Marian were both raised in East Los Angeles during the 50s & 60s when the word Chicano was commonly used to describe Mexican Americans. As a son of two Chicano parents, Jah Mex
Those three words are central elements to the life and music of southern California new reggae artist, Jah Mex. As a singer & songwriter, Jah Mex incorporates his beloved influences of reggae and soul music to express conscious, uplifting messages. With a captivating tenor voice, Jah Mex flows using a half-singing, half-rapping style called Sing-Jay, originated by Jamaican artists like Leroy Smart, Eek-A-Mouse, Sugar Minott, Michigan & Smiley, & Tony Rebel. His self produced, debut album called Mind Food was just released in September, 2007. The EP (half length album) is a six-song-expression from Jah Mex mind, heart, and soul.

Songs from Mind Food including Jah Pick Me Up, Still Searching, and Conscious Revolution, have become inspirational anthems in southern California, and are now spreading to the international reggae community. Jah Mexs full length LP will be released in spring of 2008. He is strongly committed to performing his music live, and has plans to travel around the world over the next 12 months with his band, The Translators.

Jah Mex music comes from 9 years of hard work in the reggae scene. Influenced by his Grandfather who played gospel music on the piano by ear, Jah Mex also learned to play the keyboards by ear. Immediately after he grasped the basic fundamentals of chords and music scales, Jah Mex began to write words and music. He never saw him self as a solo artist because of his commitment to being a free lance keyboard player. Jah Mex has played with international and local reggae artists including Eek-A-Mouse, Junior Reid, Mighty Diamonds, The Melodians, Tippa Irie, Abijah, Four 20 Band, Fresh Roots, Boomshaka, Upstream, Lesterfari & Kings Music, Lions Den, Local Culture, Chapter 11, Skarcha, Higher Lion, World Anthem, Rebel Rockers, Smoothie Jones, and Crucial.

In 2004 Jah Mex decided to take a break from playing keyboards, and took a full time position in the Real Estate industry. He applied the same passion, production, and perseverance to the new trade, and found him self successful in a short period of time. Jah Mex was away from his musical life style for close to four years. This passion began to boil. His music outlet was prefaced by launching an internet radio website http://www.shockout.com in March of 2006.

Jah Mex saw this as a way to be close to reggae music, and reggae listeners around the world while he was stuck inside the office. With clear a purpose and a strong team behind Shockout.com including Zonk One, Selecta 7, Symplistik, Todd Gibson, and D.J Pauze, the website has become highly respected by the international reggae community.

The boiling passion came again after spending time with friends in Hawaii during new years, 2007. Jah Mex was burnt out on working in a profession that was not his passion. He carefully planned out a new music journey, gathered his writings, and got out of the real estate business six months later in June. Three months after, he released Mind Food. Jah Mex speaks of being "truly blessed" with family and friends who have supported his vision all the way through, and is thankful they are all with him on his journey.
