When Japanese actress Kaori Momoi came to Ann Arbor in December 2008, I thought it would be nice if someone wrote a presentation piece for her. But she was due in less than a week by the time I was aware she was coming and I was doubtful that I would be able to produce something in such a short window. Nevertheless, the Tuesday before the little rising figure in the piano came to me while I was waiting for a bus, and by Friday it was finished. It is scored for clarinet, viola, piano & double bass.
