Well I guess I was just out of Nashville
When I called you on the phone
Your voice came on the line
And man was I alone
You said you was out, with your friends
And there was no doubt
I was not going to ruin your day again
I closed my eyes
And hear the Bells of Atchison County
Looks Like it gonna snow again
It’s gonna blow all night
I guess I’ll turn on in
Draw the shades, turn down the lights
Lord Knows I’ve tried
To drink you off of my mind
Sleepless nights, too many bottles of wine
I close my eyes
And hear the Bells of Atchison County
Well some time has passed me by
but I don’t take time to cry
Look out on that winter sky
Well I can see for miles
That North West wind
It cuts right through my skin,
The snow’s on the ground
I hear that lonesome sound
