I got my pole and I got my bait,,headed down the trail towards the lake
As I slid my boat into the bog,,knocked a sleep’n snake off a float’n log
He hissed real loud at me,,showed his teeth and he raised his head up high
I just paddled off, looked at him, laughed and waved him bye

On my first cast my float went down,,pulled so hard thought it weighed 10 pounds
Well I jerked him in, next thing I know,,I got a 6 foot snake in an 8 foot boat
I used my cane pole, tried to push him back but he came at me instead
So I used the same pole,,and whacked that sumbitch in the head

(FIGHT)

He left me, my pole, and all my bait,,float’n in the middle of a snake filled lake.
All that I could do was swim,,back to the log where I first saw him
I climbed up on his log, cursed and raised my fist up high
I heard him hiss once more,, as he and my boat drifted by
