Out in the mountains, three men and a dog
Huddled up round the fire, all sat on a log
The sheep are all safely corralled for the night
And the brothers are fixin’ to have them a bite.
Chorus(after every verse):
There’s beans in the pan getting hot on the fire
The coffee pot’s simmerin’ too
They’ve been workin’ all day plantin’ fence posts and wire
They thought they would never be through.
There’s a storm comin’ in by the looks of the sky
They’ll need to find shelter if they’re gonna stay dry
The night will be cold with the wind from the west
So pull up your collar and button your vest.
Says one, “I reckon, without any doubt
We’ll have us a snow storm before the week’s out;
I can feel in my bones that there’s snow on the way -
We’d better move on at the first light of day.”
