Sense to Me

Words and Music by Caitlin Martin
SOCAN 2008

Including the way you ask me to stay
and sit by my side as the couch unravels
It’s harder to see you livin’ without me
or me without you and our love-burned travels

Your poetry makes no sense to me
but the sense it makes is the sense I need
Your poetry, it ain’t graceful
but hey hey baby, at least it’s always tasteful

We’re driving to Renfrew past forests and then through
The jagged edgier coast
It’s raw, it’s fresh, it’s what you like best
It’s what I’ve learned to love the most

This campground’s empty, I’m six in deep,
the fire burns aglow
We’re talking ‘bout old times, the real and the hard times
and then I tell you slow…

that your poetry makes no sense to me,
but the sense it makes is the sense I need
Your poetry, it ain’t graceful
but hey hey baby, at least……

Your poetry makes no sense to me
but the sense it makes is the sense I need
Your poetry, it ain’t stylin’
But hey, hey baby, it always leaves me smilin’.
