The List
music and lyrics p & c 2009 by david m. white
Weds. June 10th 2009
basic chords and lyrics written at lunch on work break,
basic track recording done last night, home sick today and gtrs / voices and mixing done
today june 11

I push the buttons and I pull the strings
And I move and shake and I manage all these things
I cross the I’s and I dot the T’s
But these things on my list will not cease to be

Who has time for froliking?
Who has time for fun?
There’s a list that specifies
There’s so much to be done

Waste no time on sleeping
My life is all askew
It's written down here on my list
So many things to do

Listing all the task you have
Seems so natural
But other’s have thier own list
And I guarantee it’s full

You want to share your list of pain
We do it all the time
But constant recitation
Will still turn into a whine

Who has time to listen?
Who has time to care?
We’ve all got a list of things to do
We’d love to share

Post them on the internet
Discuss over wine
A constant need to tell ourselves
We’re busy all the time

Well I  push the buttons and I pull the strings
And I move and shake and I manage all these things
and I cross the I’s and I dot the T’s
But these things on my list will not cease to be

I’ve go to do the  laundry
and Regulate my mood
Re-calibrate some stuff at work
Go home and take some food
Brush my teeth and wash my hair
Tomorrow mow the lawn
Clean the cat box everyday
and Write my daily song
Weed the garden, plant the seeds
Working in the yard
Won’t you have some pity, lord?
My List is long and hard
Perform a cost analysis
And hope to keep my job
Pay the bills, decrease my debt
Retire and be a slob

Here’s a list some others have:
Drive the kids to school
Save the funds for college
So they won’t grow into fools
Take your special medicine
and Work out in the gym
Loose some weight, don’t get too fat
Be healthy, fit and slim
Walk the dog and feed the cat
Soccer practice for the kid
Fix the car, and paint the house
Can you see the things I did?
My special list  of chores and stuff
These things I gotta do
You could care less about my list
I’m sure you’ve got one too

Who has time to listen?
Who has time to care?
We’ve all got a list of things to do
We’d love to share
We post them on the internet
We discuss over wine
A constant need to tell ourselves
We’re busy all the time

Well I  push the buttons and I pull the strings
And I move and shake and manage all these things
I cross the I’s and I dot the T’s
But these things on my list will not cease to be

Who time to listen?
Who has time to care?
repeat....
