The first reaction
Confusion tends to bring on
Is a disorderly retreat,
A refusal to admit things are wrong.

Millions are starving
And the earth is being raped.
At least ostriches don’t really
Bury their heads to the nape.

The eco system may crumble
And our economy may collapse
While there’s still time to help ourselves
How dare we relax?

It’s the government’s fault
Or the Russians, you know.
The blame can’t be partly mine,
I’m as innocent as fresh fallen snow.

The dire predictions
We hear these days
Make you wonder
If we can change our ways.

“Everything’s all right”
There’s no hope left at all.
In the face of these errors
We’ll only will stall.
