My Weighted Eyes

(Abstract Song Poetry, written while I was having trouble falling asleep. A mix of beats I pieced together along with ocean waves...was attracted to these hypnotic sounds. I wrote some lyrics, then listened to the finished beats.
Then, I did only one take of the vocals to see what would come out...so here it is.
After, I mixed it down & I threw it on itunes and put it on repeat to listen to the finished (scratch) product....and accidentally fell asleep...lol)

I cannot sleep
Much too awake
I hope these beats
can help
me dream...


Of places
that relax the stars
In my heart
To a glimmer
So I
can close my eyes
With lullabyes


Heavy lids
weigh me down
As I fall to the
beat
of the drum
It soft'ns the night
In my soul
Makes me not
think so much
of what's to come
Or that before


My weighted eyes
