I built a house in my heart.
I put a swing out in the yard.
I planted flowers and trees
To catch that gentle country breeze.

Took in a dog and a cat
And dusted off the welcome mat.

And you can live there if you want.

But if you have to go away,
I will love you just the same.
And if your city dreams fall through,
I’ll keep the porch light lit for you.

You’ll read a book by the fire.
I’ll strum a tune on my guitar.
