BluesAngels launch Side One (huh? no sides on CDs!) of their debut album 'Devil Don't Believe' - an unplugged songcatcher that runs from wasboard blues and country moans through Americana and hill country, folk blues and jump blues to slave songs and gospel, Western swing and Waits-iana. You're more than welcome to take a pew.
Workshop, Tennis Club. BluesAngels take you on a musical history: from Cakewalk to String Band - the blues from 1880s to 1930s. Cakewalk, ragtime,New Orleans jazz, early Delta, string band, gospel, Cotton Club, pre-Chicago and more: washboard, kazoo, mandolin, banjo, banjomandolin, acoustic harmonicas, double bass. Bring anything old enough to join in, even yourself.
3pm, The Big Marquee festival finale. The multi-instrumentalist trio BluesAngels will rock the festival this year – Sunday 4th May in the Lakeview Room. This set will mark the launch of their new album “Devil Don’t Believe”. If you feel like shaking your body and uncontrollable hand clapping, these guys are not to be missed. You can even take it home and try it yourself! They will bring a mixture of roots, blues, secular gospel, folk blues, skiffle, Memphis, Piedmont, Delta, hillbilly, bluegrass, swing, jump and somehow even more.
