Acoustic Harmony Music Camp - June 20-21, 2015 - all acoustic styles/instruments welcomed - 2 days (1 night) of song swapping, lyric exchange, lick trading, and instrument dealing - merchants, workshops, discussion circles, campfire singing, jam sessions, impromptu mini-concerts, plus live stage performances - all-age family camping Faerie Hill Farm - Lawrence County, Indiana More info details posted on our event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/736033613170747/ Some of the performer/participants: M and David Roach each fell in love with the soul of old time music when they were kids; and with fiddlers and pipers in the family tree, they soon found themselves imbibing the "pure drop" from the wellsprings of Irish and Scottish music; as well as American Mountain music that came across to fester here in the relative isolation of the hills and hollars. Far gone on "the stuff" when they met, thirty years has left them with airs, ballads, pipe tunes, jigs, reels, slides, and even(Irish) polkas; which they enjoy playing on a variety of instruments, from the trump or jaw harp, to ocarinas and pocket pipes (a bagpipe style ocarina of their own devising). With guitar, bouzouki, bodhran, bones, bells and concertina they raise a music which is both ancient as mossy stones and new as a spring day. http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/MDavidRoach https://www.etsy.com/shop/Roachworks?ref=hdr_shop_menu Tom Duncan: In the simplest of terms, Duncan is a harpist. However, his talents go far beyond that of just plucking strings to create a melody. The musical ability of Tom Duncan is mesmerizing, lavished with tints and hues that paint a landscape filled with sound and texture. Duncan wears many hats in regards to his musical career. He is a musician, a composer, a craftsman and performer. http://tomduncan.net/ Woodstock Music Experience: Beatnik singer/songwriter Jonas Woodstock is a traveling one man band musician from Alabama. He primarily plays original works but may throw in one of his twisted and altered cover songs. His style is considered to be Altered Appalachian Greendirt Folk, which is infused elements of blues, bluegrass, folk, rock and soul music with his words in the style of the old beatnik traveling writers. Instruments that he utilizes in his performances are a kick drum, cajon hand drum, hi-hat, cymbals, tambourine, acoustic guitars, harmonica, shakers, washboard, and also buckets and pans. https://www.facebook.com/jonaswoodstock http://www.reverbnation.com/jonaswoodstock https://soundcloud.com/jonaswoodstock Lacey Chaddock: “anxiety, a guitar, and swagger - a poetic, erratic, yet smooth winnable jazzy, sort of bluesy, and blacks and purples that swirl in and out of your thoughts with very literal blunt force … then leaves you wises glad you are not me” - Danielle Look from Indianapolis' Nuvo Magazine: "Chaddock came to life on stage with unrivaled humor and an unexpectedly charismatic presence. Her vocals were squeakily clean and idiosyncratic, laid atop changing guitar harmonies that never bored." http://www.reverbnation.com/laceychaddock https://www.facebook.com/LaceyChaddock https://www.youtube.com/user/LaceyChaddockMusic Dwight Newton: wonderful and magical old school multi instrumental musical craftsman performing British isles folk, Jethro Tull, and Irish sessions (Ohio) https://www.facebook.com/dwight.newton.984 Tarpaper Shack (Thomas Marshalek with Mike Schuler): Philosopher/Visionary/Musician/Songwriter/DJ, Humorist/Programmer/Fool. He blends seasoned acoustic guitar playing with a distinctive voice to craft a sound that can instantly be recognized as his own. His original songs cover a wide range of topics that include love lost and found, life and death, addiction and redemption, and, of course, sasquatch and cowboys. https://www.facebook.com/JeffCordesMusic https://soundcloud.com/jeffcordes http://jeff-cordes.com/home Brady Gillihan: folk - guitar, keyboard, harmonicas, kickdrum https://www.facebook.com/braidai.gillihan Kimmie & Johnny Trailer trash Combo: pretend rock stars playing country punk protest songs in camo drag https://www.reverbnation.com/kimmiejohnny https://kimmieandjohnny.bandcamp.com/ Kip Newby (Paris): eclectic song mix of classical, rock, metal, punk, and folk https://www.facebook.com/pages/Paris-Music/174617036023555 Craig Thurston (A-Coup-Stick): I bought my first guitar when I was nineteen and became obsessed with the music I loved; Dead, Dylan, CSNY, Floyd, and countless others. I have studied music (classical blues and jazz guitar as well as music theory) extensively at Indiana University. My most cherished possession is a National Duolian which dates from 1934-37 or 38 and belonged to my grandfather, since at least 1942. My music escapes the rigidity and complexity of the music that I studied at school and spans across many genres. http://www.reverbnation.com/acoupstickcraigthurston Michael McNeely: original acoustic/folk singer-songwriter with a little bit of a punk-rock edge (Ohio) https://www.facebook.com/michael.mcneely.56 Joe Strunk: Authentic folk, blues, and country music from the heart of Indiana. ““Everything else has been taken from me—what do I really want to do?” The question faced Johnny Profane, nearing 60 and homeless, after he had left a “Hindu meditation cult” and then spent 17 years as a therapist working with cult survivors. The answer to his quandary came via Facebook where he linked up with Kimmie F’n Green Eyez, 59. Also homeless after she lost her nursing job “due to a marijuana bust,” Kimmie (real last name Deckard) invited Johnny (real last name Knapp) to Bloomington where they began playing music together. A year ago they were living and performing on the streets. Today they are handing out samples at Sam’s Club, living in a rented house, and hosting a monthly cabaret show at Bear’s Place. - See more at: http://www.magbloom.com/2013/06/kimmie-johnny-a-funky-cowpunk-duo/#sthash.5j1DzUBI.dpuf”
