Granny Gruesome is the creation of storyteller Glee Violette. Her stage act is interactive, for all ages. The stories and songs are original, funny, not scary, but with a definite ewwwwwww factor.
Granny Grue is a zombie who doesn't realize she is dead, poor thing, and wonders why she keeps losing her ears. On her shoulder sits Rosco, an amazing puppet that appears to move independently. Kids are fascinated, adults are startled. Granny gives a charmed bauble to ward off bad dreams to anyone brave enough to scratch his head.
The Bogle of the Bog, played by Dana Stoehrer, is a shape-shifter who changes personalities (and accents) in the twinkle of an eye. You never know WHO or WHAT he is going to be next. He not only figures prominently in a number of Gleeful Tales himself, he likes to be at Granny Grue's side when she is telling Tales, in order to interact with everything that is going on, and with the audience, too!
Glee Violette began storytelling on radio, with a nightly feature on WARA in Massachusetts, where she was also a daily talk show host. She then moved to WOON and WNRI in Rhode Island, doing news and talk shows, along with daily story features, and special Holiday storytelling features.
She also does storytelling at schools, libraries, malls, and fairs and festivals, as various fictional and historical characters, including Mrs. Santa Claus. She has been a performer at Renaissance Faires throughout New England for many years. Glee also entertains as a musician, and is a music therapist, and music director.
