"SWIDENBANK" is a band from Bedford in the South of England, which takes its name from the family name of brothers Joseph Swidenbank (lead singer, songwriter, guitar) and Ben Swidenbank (bass and backing vocals). Joe and Ben come from a musical family, and both occasionally play in an Irish folk rock band, Grafton Street, with their dad!
Joe released a solo album "Roads" and with Ben he formed the band, bringing in lead guitarist Bud Rogers and drummer Pete Hancock, to perform a tour to promote the album. He then started writing a follow up album "Scattered", the release of which had to be postponed, due to complications with the record label he originally signed the album to, but which will be released at the end of June 2012 on the Menu Records label
Joe writes the songs and they are an originals band, although they did release a cover of Joe Jackson's "It's Different For Girls" (video below).
Previous gigs have included playing the main stage at the 30th Bedford River Festival (which had an attendance of over 250,000), and they also did a full live internet gig which was broadcast online worldwide. They have been invited back to play the main stage of the 2012 Bedford River Festival on July 22nd and are very much looking forward to playing live together again
Joe writes from the heart and his lyrics are very personal and often deeply emotional, even some of his rockiest songs have a a definite heartbreak theme and undercurrent.
They are a cross-over band encompassing different levels of rock and pop, and their songs range from soft emotional ballads through to pounding heavy rock.
Swidenbank songs get a lot of radio airplay and particularly appeal to American audiences.
