Ed Pettersen Bio
Ed Pettersen’s body of work has earned him respect as a Folk and Americana artist, and in 2007 he garnered international recognition for his production of the 3-CD, 50-song compilation Song of America. He also released his critically acclaimed fifth solo record, The New Punk Blues of Ed Pettersen, in 2007, delivering some of his most pointed social commentary to date. In 2008 his deft songwriting brought him further into the limelight, with a song on the 2008 Grammy nominated record of Blues/Soul legend Bettye LaVette and a follow up track on Soul powerhouse Candi Staton’s 2009 release "Who's Hurting Now?" A New York native by birth, Pettersen now makes his home in Nashville but for the past 3 years has traveled back and forth to Norway; finding his lost family, forming a band The Black Country,immersing himself in Norwegian literature and working up a captivating narrative about his journey for his upcoming release “I Curse the River of Time: A Norwegian American Tale”. In his spare time, he is pursuing his first musical love, jazz, and has launched an international collaboration under the moniker of Mad King Edmund.
