Liz Rognes is a singer/songwriter and multi-genre artist based in Spokane, Washington. She grew up in rural Iowa, surrounded by cornfields, prairie, and her father’s eccentric love for miniature animals. Santa brought her a piano at the age of two, and she has been playing ever since. Classically trained as a soprano, she started writing and singing folk songs in college and fell in love with the idea of singing about her trouble. She regularly sings her heart out for measly tips, so once in a while she buys a lottery ticket, just in case. Liz has had the honor of working with her cellist and producer Dan Zamzow (Deep Soul Deities, Liminal Phase, Cloud Cult) on two albums: Red Flags (2009) and Topographies (to be released in June 2012).
Liz has shared the stage and opened for such amazing bands as Deep Soul Deities, Thomas Kivi, Bethany DeLine, Trampled by Turtles, Sara Jackson-Holman, Kasey Anderson, Johnny Unicorn, Horace Pickett, Alana Fugate, Melissa Greener, and Bitch. Her songs have been featured on Spokane's 103.1 KCDA Local Lounge and, Thin Air Radio KYRS 92.3, and NWCZ radio.
