The Black Drapes are a blaring, heavy, fuzzy, psychoactive three-piece who originally hail from small southern Saskatchewan towns. They write and record all their songs themselves; combining influences of rock, psychedelic, grunge, metal, and progressive. The Black Drapes have developed their own unique "space-rock" sound since they formed in 2009; once described as having a "cool and laid-back Nirvana style". From the beginning they have documented their progress through their YouTube channel; uploading music videos, live performances, and a behind-the-scenes style series called, Chillin' With The Black Drapes (21 uploaded videos in total). From time to time fans will say how The Black Drapes have a sound similar to another various artist. Some of the bands mentioned over the years were: Queens Of The Stone Age, Green Day, Blue Oyster Cult, Nirvana, Helmet, The Cure, The Screaming Trees, and Linkin Park.
