Soundwaves On Strike, a rock band formed in 2008 in Norwalk, CA. Consisting of four members, the band was formed by lead guitarist/vocalist Charles Rojas and rhythm guitarist/vocalist (and cousin) Andrew Makowski. While still in high school, both Charles and Andrew progressed their musical style and ideas by having a significant amount of jam sessions. Charles, being a student at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, recruited bass guitarist Vince Le and drummer Max Lubliner. The band all seemed to have a common interest in bands such as Thrice, Rise Against, Finch, and more familiar groups of that style. Like Thrice, Soundwaves On Strike is acknowledged by its fans for its innovative heavy chord progressions and intricate guitar riffs. Charles, acquiring many skills in audio recording, began recording the band in early 2009. Soundwaves On Strike completed their first three original songs: Cureless, Breakthrough Soon, and crowd favorite, Contrived. Shortly after, more songs were produced, and released on their band myspace, including: Tried Untrue, Fire Sight, Guitar Prose, and The Final Season. The band then released an EP consisting of all their songs, excluding The Final Season. After a few months of practicing and getting to know each other better, Soundwaves played their first couple of shows at high school band showcases. Gaining more stage experience, the band quickly stepped onto Sunset Strip to play the world famous Whisky A Go-Go, opening for bands Split The Sky and Abused Romance. Soon after, they played shows at Chain Reaction in Anaheim, The Green Turtle in Whittier, and Dipiazza’s in Long Beach. Soundwaves also played the So Cal Rock Revolution in Long Beach with bands Death By Stereo, Love Hate Hero, and A Static Lullaby. The band is continuing to write and record new songs that fit their style of modern alternative rock.
