The Symbols are:
Mer Sal- vocals, bass, keys
Jasco - guitar
Nate Brown - drums
The Symbols are a female fronted trio from Fort Collins Colorado that do "spiritual porn rock" music that's good for the soul and body. Their original songs are a montage of rock, blues, funk, and jazz styles with an overall pop melodic sensibility. They also play cover songs with unique twists.
The Symbols have released 3 EP length CDs in the past 18 months, and are currently in the studio working on another one. You can also find several low budget videos on their website. They write a monthly e-newsletter and a blog to keep fans informed of shows and band news.
Lead vocalist and bassist Mer Sal has a musical maturity beyond her youthful 22 years. Her fun onstage persona is backed by emotive vocals and solid grooves. Occasionally she’ll also play keys onstage and in the recording studio.
Jasco’s guitar sings with passion or screams with fury as he squeezes drops of soul from bent strings. In addition to rock-blues-funk stylings, Jasco’s musical depth is explored with subtle additions of flamenco, jazz, and classical textures.
Behind the drum kit, Nate Brown brings a wealth of musical experience to The Symbols, with years of touring and studio experience. Nate lives for the groove and plays for the song.
The Symbols play across Colorado and Wyoming, and have traveled to Kansas, Oklahoma, and California in the past year. Look for The Symbols at a venue near you in the future.
