Significance is an independent Christian rap artist who uses his talents to inspire, encourage, and educate young people from various backgrounds and cultures. The name originates from a deep desire humans have to find ultimate significance in life. Significance means importance, meaning, value, fulfillment, and purpose. Young people attempt to find significance in many ways resulting in much despair, disappointment, and self-destruction. Adolescence and young adulthood are marked as periods of searching for identity, purpose, and belonging. His search for significance ended the moment he finally worshiped God with tears running down his face from years of feeling lost, internalized pain, uncertainty, and confusion. In one moment he traded his life of casual sex, alcohol, drugs, aimlessness, and cultural norms for one of deeper significance. The great exchange resulted in permanent joy, understanding, and satisfaction. Writing became an avenue to express new experiences, passions, and conflicts. It became the safe place when he felt alone, stressed, or inspired. Poems became spoken word, spoken word became raps. Since then he has developed his abilities, gained experienced working with young people, and is developing a nonprofit advocacy program. Music is simply a expressive tool not the end goal. Where music played a negative role during his adolescence and young adulthood life, he desires to use music as a positive factor influencing young people to live for Christ--the ultimate significance.
