"YOU HAVE TO HAVE HAD THE BLUES TO PLAY THE BLUES"
If you could look it up in a Dictionary it would say-Stumblecol-"NOT A STATEMENT OF INTENT, MORE A COMMENT ON THE WAY WE ALL STAGGER THROUGH LIFE"
Stumblecol are: Colin Merry(Stumblecol)-Lead Vox, 12 String Acoustic, Resonator and Cigar Box Guitars, Harmonica(Rack Harp) and Stomp Box, Tom Few(Tom Stumble)-Lead and Slide Guitars, Stomp Box and Backing Vox. Home grown Acoustic Blues with an edge of raw emotion and heart felt honesty.
"GREAT BIG TUNES TO BLOW YOU AWAY WITH", some bloke once said in the Paper. Don..t take my word for it, check out our tracks or if you can, catch the live show !
COLIN: Back in August 09 I broke my leg, I had 4 wks with it elevated. I did not want to sit there and do nothing so, started to teach myself Slide Guitar. I bought a Resonator Guitar and it has changed me. I have always been the 12 String Guitar Man but, now I also play Slide in the set and both with Harmonica in a brace. Under the name Just Plain Colin, I did supports on two tours for The Levellers, back in the early 90s as well as gigs with the Red Sky Coven. At that time I shared a house with and did regular gigs with Rev Hammer. I also became involved with the Cambridge Folk Club, through the singers nights, went on to do the door and even compare. My music was much more Folkie in those days and I did gigs with the likes of Richard Thompson, Dick Gaughan, Rory Mc Leod and Ron Cavarna. I also used to be the Site Crew Boss for The Cambridge Folk Festival, which I worked for 15yrs.
In 1996 I formed an Indie/Rock band called The Other Garden, this project ran for 6 or 7 years, saw the recording and release of 3 CDs + the setup of our own Indie Record Label. We won numerous Band Comps, performed at many Festivals and toured extensivley through out the UK. Unfortunately the major record deal alluded us and in 2002 the band split.
