Charlie Mizza has revolutionized the upper Midwest hip hop scene. He is regarded as the "best hip hop producer in the Upper Midwest" (Renegade Magazine, 2009), but lately he is on another mission...
Raised in Fargo, ND, at an early age he found the darker side of life quick, and the law found him even faster. After a long stretch of "no-good", he buckled down on music, forming 701 KLIK with his closest friend, Jacob Thomas, a.k.a. "Jacob Ladda". The group gained much success very quickly due to the dynamics of the act, but in particular Mizza's production skills, which paved the way for the group to be the first local music act of ANY GENRE to be played regularly on Y94, 93.7, the areas Top 40 station.
Sadly though, with a lot of groups, opinions differed, and egos grew, and Mizza had had enough. He left the group in 2009, and has been working on his own music, and occasionally other artist's music since. Mizza has worked with other well known artists such as D12, The Lost Angel Crew, and others TBA, who are slated to appear on Mizza's upcoming solo album, "Always Free, Little King", scheduled for release in the Spring of 2011.
Charlie Mizza's songs have a cinematic feel to them, and if you listen to five or six songs in a row, it starts to feel like a movie - every song a different scene, a different emotion. "I'm trying to do something that hasn't been done before. In hip hop nowadays there's too many of the same dude, ya know what I'm sayin'?....How many ways can you say the exact same thing? I could write a whole album of 'trappin and pimpin, or clubbin' music in a week...easy! - I'm trying to keep it real down to earth, so when you hear my album, you won't be skippin tracks....unless you're tryin' to hear 'that' music".
Mizza's album will be on I-Tunes, as well as any other digital music outlet, and on store shelves as well. "I'm doin' it Indie right now...if a label wants to holler at me, we'll definitely talk, if the deal is right that is...."
